MONDAY, OCTOBER 25 - Club Members divide students small groups to discuss their plans after high school.

 

John Spilane

·         Romaric Dasse, was born in Ivory Coast and has his sights set on becoming a dentist.

·         Ulises Guevera plans on becoming a police officer.

·         Laura Ostrem wants to go on to college and become a social worker.  Her father wants Laura to go to Winona State and become a nurse.

·         Antwan Moon said he wants to plays sports in 10 years, after some conversation about statistics, he said his second option is owning a business.  Antwan said that his grades were a concern for him.

·         The other three kids saw nothing in their current situation that would roadblock their plans.

John Slama

 

  • Shaquille is interested in the performing arts, particularly dancing.  Hasn't really looked at schools.
  • Nia is looking at St. Cloud State for Psychology, with a particular interest in the criminal mind (didn't ask why).
  • Dedra is looking at Argosy for Psych as well, and is visiting there this week. Classes aregoing "good" or "great" with no particular concerns at this point. 
  • I need to dig a little deeper here.  In general, a nice group.  Seems engaged, just need to direct their attention more to the task at hand - getting college applications going!   

 

 

Bob Mattson

 

  • Mary Millard tells me she's dislexic and she's 3 credits short to graduate but is presently pursueing these shorts and expects to graduate on time. Mary would like to pursue a career to help or teach other dislexic kids.
  • Sandra Trowbridge Walters and she likes art
    and photography and likes cartooning. She aspires to go to a local technical college to pursue her interests.
  • Huda Badri is on pace to graduate and of Somali descent and she's applied to 5different colleges including U of M. According to her, her Mom told her that she would have her education paid for by a state or local school.

 

 

Tom Kosel

 

  • Tailor Hodges is a guard on the Cooper basketball team – wants to find a college in California where she can study forensic pathology
  • Diamond Hoskins favorite class is Film Studies – she plans to major in Art and Dance – looking for a college in New York or Californa
  • TyKeatrice Johnson wants to complete a four-year n+nursing program – goal is to work in  a Twin City Hospital
  • Jimmy Rodgers III   is part of the “Stepping” group at Cooper – wants to study Sports Training
